FILM PROJECTS, ART COMPETITIONS, BOOK RELEASES AND MORE...

We were invited to take part in some exciting film projects in collaboration with South Essex College to celebrate jazz 'voices from the past'. This includes a film produced for educational purposes by students at South Essex College titled 'They All Played The 100 Club'. The film collates iconic American and British performers in selective snippets of interview and film. You can watch the film on this page or on our YouTube channel. You can also listen to our playlist 'They All Played The 100 Club' on Spotify which pairs with the students' film.

The collaboration with the South Essex College students did not stop there! Our very talented pupils also produced a collection of outstanding jazz movie posters centralised on our 'voices from the past' subjects. Whilst digitally designed, these posters cleverly capture the typical visual styles and themes seen through the past decades of the genre. As part of the project, all posters were judged by a professional panel of industry digital design experts to help with student progression. The panel determined a winning poster which The Jazz Centre UK adopted to help promote the 100 Club Project.

BE THE FIRST TO ORDER 'ACE OF CLUBS'

Purchase The Jazz Centre UK's very first book 'Ace of Clubs' published by Brewin Books.

The National Lottery Heritage Fund's approved purposes for our project allowed us to present a full celebration of all the jazz activities that have taken place at the club over seven decades. To begin with, we were able to interview a wide selection of people central to the club's history; musicians to begin with, but also employees, dancers, fans, staff and - very importantly - the prime-movers who helped the club to recover its finances during the past decade and win charitable status. The result of all these interviews was the publication of a fascinating book, 'Ace of Clubs'.
