NON-STOP LINDY HOP!
We were also able to celebrate the long history of jazz dancing at The 100 Club. The Jazz Centre UK extends a huge thank you to Lindy Hop dancer Nicola Wood for managing this part of the project; also to The London Starlings, Robyn Larson, Cat Foley and SwingDanceUK for their support.
Dance has always been central to jazz and rock presentations at the club and for years the celebrated London Swing Dance Society made it their home. Although we were prevented by the restrictions of Covid 19 from dancing face-to-face, our online activities - including demonstrations and classes by previously mentioned swing dance expert Nicola Wood and her colleagues - made up for the fact and reached a far wider number of participants than our original on-site plans at The Jazz Centre UK would have allowed. The workshop series was initially held over Zoom to over 100 participants. We hope this workshop inspires a whole new generation of jazz dancers in the UK and beyond.
