About the Event
Richard Pite (drums), Chinara Sharshenova (violin), Jerome Davies (bass), Gunther Kurmayer (piano).
Drummer Richard Pite is the founder and musical director of The Jazz Repertory Company – the UK organisation dedicated to producing concerts highlighting significant musicians, styles and events in jazz history. He's appearing at the JCUK today as bandleader, in a quartet notable for the relatively rare presence of a violinist out front. She's Chinara Sharshenova, from Kyrgyzstan (definitely a JCUK first!), who studied jazz at Berklee, no less, and now resides in Britain. That elegant player and all-round nice guy, Gunther Kurmayer, occupies the piano stool, with Jerome Davies on bass.
