Spike’s Place features a welcome return to Greg Abate. His hard-driving commitment to the be-bop school of jazz has seen him tour often and extensively round the UK and throughout Europe, as well as north America. For many years Greg has been recognised as one of America’s top saxophonists, playing with Ray Charles from 1972-73 and later featured in the Artie Shaw band. He has recorded well-received two albums with another of America’s top alto saxophonist, Phil Woods, and another, Birds of a Feather, with Britain’s Alan Barnes.
