JCUK presents the Lockheart/Davis/Williams Trio.

Mark Lockheart emerged on the national jazz scene as a member of the late, lamented Loose Tubes ensemble, which did so much to revitalise British jazz in the 80's. He has remained at the forefront of forward thinking, progressive jazz in groups like Perfect Houseplants, Polar Bear, Malija, and Dreamers. His magnum opus Days on Earth (2019) was an ambitious jazz/orchestral project, while his latest album, Smiling, echoes the halcyon days of early British jazz/rock, to powerful effect. He has nurtured many fine young players in his role as tutor at the Guildhall, Trinity Laban and Royal Academy jazz courses. He plays for the JCUK today with his trio, Lockheart/Davis/Williams, a new line-up which explores jazz improvisation by combining original compositions with well known standards.
