James Allsopp is an accomplished British saxophonist, who played at the JCUK in a two-tenor front line with Derek Nash a year or so back. Today he brings his own quartet to explore the music of the great Stan Getz…
Getz, of course was one of the most influential tenor saxophonists of the post war period. Known for his warm, lyrical style, derived from that of his idol Lester Young, he played bop and cool jazz, though he achieved his greatest fame in the 1960s by popularizing the bossa nova sounds of Brazil.
