About the Event
Come and see two of the greatest local jazz musicians on the scene, with a top class rhythm section!
Martin is a professor of Jazz at the Guildhall School of Music and leader of the Essex Youth Jazz Orchestra. As a performer, he is probably best known for his long associations with the late British jazz pianist / composer Michael Garrick, trumpeter Loz Speyer, and with the London Jazz Orchestra, whilst Shanti is a versatile multi-instrumentalist and composer who plays all sort of music – Jazz, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, and other world music from Eastern Europe, Africa, India and China. His career started in London playing jazz with the likes of Jason Rebello, Tim Garland and Courtney Pine, he is also a Jazz Professor at the Birmingham Conservatoire.
The band is completed by top London pianist Jonathan Gee, Dominic Hwles on bass and Trevor Taylor at the drums
